Pathfinder

Joanne, Director of Innervision is Project Director and BlaST lead for the Pathfinder working group, playing a pivotal role in driving the UK’s first Social Investment Pathfinder within the Liverpool City Region.

The Liverpool City Region is primed to be the UK’s Social Investment Pathfinder, a visionary project championed by eight collaborating organisations. Backed by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Power to Change, this initiative seeks to grow an initial £6.5 million investment into £50 million, fostering innovation, economic growth, and positive social impact.

The Pathfinder’s approach, influenced by the Adebowale Commission’s recommendations, focuses on inclusive development. Joanne Anderson, alongside her colleagues, has been instrumental in advocating for community wealth-building and grassroots enterprise development. The project is designed to create 4,500 jobs, half of which will be in areas with clear social need.

A key element of the initiative is its emphasis on community asset transfers, which aim to empower socially trading organisations (STOs) to own and manage local assets. By doing so, these STOs can reinvest wealth back into their communities and prevent displacement from the very areas they serve.
