Joanne Anderson holds a Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) from City and Guilds (2011–2012) and has over 30 years of experience as an adult educator

Throughout her career, she has delivered training on subjects including equity, diversity, inclusion, employability, and social impact. Joanne has worked with a wide range of audiences, from socially excluded groups and young people not in education or employment to professionals across the public, private, and voluntary sectors, including civil service managers, small business owners, leadership teams, Boards and community organisations

Power Up Network

For the Power Up Network, I developed and delivered a focused leadership training session aimed at empowering emerging leaders in the creative industries, particularly from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds. The program explored key leadership styles, including authentic, transformational, and servant leadership, and encouraged participants to reflect on their personal leadership journeys. Through presentations, discussions, and personal reflection, participants identified their strengths, leadership styles, and strategies for continued growth. The session helped them develop the confidence and skills needed to lead effectively within their respective fields.

 

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service

‘Joanne played a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the culture agenda at Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service through her position as Co-Chair of the Culture and Inclusion Board. Bringing together senior leaders from across the organisation, the Board tackled both local priorities and national challenges, championing meaningful progress in culture, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
With vision, expertise and unwavering commitment, Joanne provided strategic leadership that helped influence and shape policy at both local and national levels. Working collaboratively across a wide range of workstreams, Joanne challenged thinking constructively, inspired innovation, and helped drive continuous improvement. Her contribution ensured that Merseyside Fire and Rescue remained at the forefront of promoting diversity, fostering inclusion, and creating a workplace where every individual could feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive, while strengthening relationships with the diverse communities the Service proudly serves’.
